Steering Wheels was created by Licksan
The rubber on my 2001 4 spoke wheel has started to come away from the metal inside so the outer can be twisted in the 12:00 to 3:00 area. The car was owned originally by a guy on a mobility scheme so I think it may have had a handle or knob fitted which has caused this. I'm guessing its not fixable unless I can inject glue in some how!?

Did Suzuki offer any leather steering wheel upgrade or do any later models have leather wheels that would fit?

If you feel like sitting for a couple of hours & at the end have the satisfaction of saying ‘I’m pleased with that’.
Purchase a ‘Leather Wheel Glove’ take your time & imo a worth while ‘mod’.

If it ever stops raining I’ll show you mine, cost all of £1.88 item #350633617146 ......

My steering wheel feels the same. (in the 11:00 to 2:00 área) :(

I think it is by excessive exposure to the sun, because the failure occurs on the upper side of steering wheel

I inject with a syringe 1.5 cc3 adhesive gasket distributed at various points of the affected area.

:S Does not work :S  No adhesive solvent evaporates, and not polymerize  and adhesion failure

:) Should be tested with a two-component adhesive to react together inside the steering wheel. :)

success

So the options so far are slice the rubber open, squeeze in some kind of adhesive to rebond the rubber and then cover the surgery with Leather like Tadpole suggests. (Does look like a satisfying project and soo cheap!)

Maybe Sikaflex or Thixofix will work. I know Thixofix does a great job of sticking rubber to wood. Will have to see if it works on metal and Sikaflex well that sticks to everything!

Or fit a replacement wheel that's newer or in better condition keeping my airbag.

Not seen in a newer Jimny but no doubt it has a different wheel. If I got one with airbag would it fit/work? Are they nicer?
