Off roading after care. was created by Jimny J
As the title suggests, have people got any useful hints and tips for keeping our Jimny's in good shape after a good days off roading?

Obviously keeping them clean is important, especially underneath. But are there any spots that should be given extra attention to avoid any unwanted rust spots developing?

I regularly give mine a good clean around the arches and as much of the chassis and drive train area as possible.

But one area im always a bit dubious about is under the bonnet. Most obviously of all, the alternator...

Is there a right or wrong way to clean any mud out of the alternator and surrounding areas?

I do but while its turned of with a hose pipe not a power washer

Unless not been through water or wet mud. If its been dry day then under bonnet will be fine

Also do not be tempted to pressure wash around the swivel seals, it can force water and dirt into the hub

Also don't pressure wash the radiator! I found out the hard way and flattened off and bent a small area, Do'h!
