Special Tool? was created by JivingDaddy
Disappointing. Thought I'd check the Little Beast (recently purchased) for diff & gear box oil levels. Couldn't get the level plugs out. Looks like a special tool is required?

Diff fillers can be a bugger - I put a large set of mole grips round the outside done up tight and knock it round. Then do them up with a 3/4" ratchet.
Gearbox & transfer box filer and drains just need a 3/4" ratchet as do diff drains. They usually come undone without rounding at all but can be stiff. Just make sure you press the ratchet into the hole with your other hand.
Diff fillers just round with a 3/4" ratchet when trying to undo.
Don't overtighten any of them and get a new copper washer for the diff fillers preventing theneed to tighten too much.
I bought a tool for them recently to fit snigly in them but it was no better than a ratchet in all honesty.

3/8 ratchet I think. Or 10mm square plug tool.
They can be a pain.

Thanks folks. I'll get myself a 3/8 reducer to stick on my 1/2. Ooooh.
I have to admit to being amused by the state of the exhaust system. I have NEVER seen an exhaust so completely rotten throughout and yet no holes. Not a single blow from anywhere. However, the cat heat shield is rattling like a good 'un and driving the CO crazy (she was already over halfway there). Kwik-Fit quoted 495 to change the whole system. Ouch. :S
