Squeeaally belts? was created by Buckyohare27
Morning,
Last month my fan belt snapped due to a seized alternator. So I got a new alternator. The garage that fitted it ordered the wrong belt, so they put the power steering belt on the alternator and visa versa. Iv had squealy belt ever since. I did get a mechanic to check the tension for me an he said it was ok. Does this sound ok? Anyone got any experience of swapping belts around like that? Any advice greatly appreciated. Thanks.

Use the right length belt for the application and make sure it is tight enough. There seems to need to be a fair amount of tension on them, but you don;t want too much or your alternator bearings will fail again.
