Hi.
Need a bit of help splitting an auto jimny engine aond gearbox.
I have removed all the things I would on a manual jimny. But is the flywheel bolted to the auto box? I can see bolts throuh the hole where the starter was?
Normally the manual gearbox would just pull off. Never done an auto before.
Thanks

flywheel is bolted to the engine with the torque converter
im no expert on auto box's but can't see why it should not split from the engine just like a manual

If it suddenly breaks, go back to the last thing that you did before it broke and start looking there

Normally the torque converter comes off with the gearbox, just undo the bolts through the flywheel using the access provided.
Then the torque converter has to be attached and engaged at the gearbox before fitting, because the oil pump drive has to line up to get the converter on far enough. If you fit it to the flywheel then add the gearbox, you can force it on ok, but the oilpump just breaks, and there is no drive.

I thought that might be the case. Presumably I get to the bolts by accessing them from through the flywheel cover plate underneath. Only issue is the engine is dead and may not turn over.
