So, took the JImny for a quick spin today.

After 5 mins the temperature reading was at about 3/4. So something is wrong.

I'm guessing either pump or thermostat.. Hoping for the thermostat :)

The gauge is not very accurate indeed, if you use a Scangauge or similar device you will see the real coolant temperature varies significantly while the needle doesn't budge.

The regular needle position on mine is also a bit under the middle, barely touching the thermometer "dot".

I have taken the thermostat out and put it in boiling water. After a couple of minutes boiling the thermostat have opened about 3 mm. Is that enough ?

Update
Took the Jimny for a spin without thermostat installed. Temperature reading was steady just 1 mm above minimum. So will get a new thermostat monday :)

My road going Jimny runs at "8 o'clock" whilst my off-road Jimny ran at "9 o'clock" if you can picture in your mind the clock references.
