I have just been using the gears a short while, so I can't comment on any long term effects. They do have a 3 year warranty for the gears, even for competition use though. There are several members on the german Jimny forum ( www.suzuki-jimny.info ) who have been running them for 2+ years and no reports of problems so far. The gears are about 790,- € shipped, which is a steep price, but cheaper than most other options (M16A) and a lot less work. I'm very pleased with them, because they do exactly what I was looking for. My tires are 16% bigger than the stock tires, the gearing is 17,39% lower, so I ended up about even. I might have lost the tiniest amount of top speed, which I don't care about anyways. Low range is about perfect for me, and the Jimny accelerates reasonably well. I also recommend a speedohealer ( www.healtech-electronics.com/ ) to get your speedo to show speed exactly again after the bigger tires. At least around here thats required to pass tech inspection (TÜV).
Hope that helps,
ilten
