Hey all,

I have Jimny 09 1.3 vvt Automatic with electronic transmission
lifted with trail master 2.5-3 inch
i run stock tyres size 205/70/15 maxxis M8060
and air locked rear

when swap engines into M16A vvt should be enough power to drive easy with 235/75/15 tyres
my question is if it is right to do this, if al the unite (auto gear, transmission...) will survive under this new bigger load.
what other effects a engine braking

hope to get answers :)
thanks all

Guy

it will have the power to drive but virtually no engine breaking without a lower ratio transfer box

what about the other Tbox and the transmission, will survive under this load?
it also can help me how to lower the ratio, i guess that if the transfer not strong enough, the best option is to change ring and pinions (if i dont tink of swap to samurai tbox)

thanks

M16a with a manual transmission and standard transfer box works fine with 235 tyres. Acceleration is better but top speed is the same due to gearing. Engine braking is the same as with the m13a.

Not too sure how it will be effected with the auto box.

Hope this helps.

Well, ring and pinions are hard to come by and rather expensive. I have a '07 with manual transmission and I'm running 30 x 9.5 BFG MT KM2. I recently installed a 20% kit from a Low Ratio Gearset provider in my transfer box and I couldn't be happier (ok, I could with a 1.6 engine - but you know what I mean...).
Installation is a breeze, and my gearing is back where it was with stock tires. Only downside is it's expensive, but still cheaper than most other options. And they do make a kit for the Jimny with automatic transmission......

Thank you ilten,

for how much time you already use this gear set?
i heard that with this kit there is too much load on the transfer chain and it become to slip
but you know.. for me its a rumor... you are the first source for this case now.. :) doesnt is too much (20% lower) at high?

thanks
