Has any one have first hand knowledge of the chip mod that is selling now to make your jimny into pocket rocket, well a damp one any way.You so say undo your I A T sensor at the air filter and fit to the conector the two wires into it.
It clames that it can inprove it up to 30bhp but that is I think over the top, just a bit.
With this mind, what happends the the sensor in the air filter ,it can't tell the MAF sensor what is going on and the I would have thought the engine light would come on.
Has any one tried one yet if so,any good ..
cheers then ,gamps

Cons the ECu into thinking the engine is cold so gives it more fuel, basically.
You'll probably be able to see the fuel gauge drop an hell of a lot quicker as well, I did in the Mazda when I fitted one. (Brother bought it and gave it to me)
I think(?) I felt a slight increase in power but only up towards the 'red line' on the tacho!!
Oh and both tail pipes were full of soot.
Seriously, don't bother, only harm can come from fitting one......

could this be why my mpg is sooo bad .... dodgy sensor .... and if so, which one ?
and would any garage be able to check it out, or would it have to be Suzuki :pinch:
many thanks

The 'chip' that I was bought was sealed in a small box with a couple of wires poking out. These connected to the sensor connection before the MAS.
I'm told it's just a resister that cons the sensor and the ECU into thinking the engine is cold and so squirts a little more fuel into the inlet. Hence the slight rise in power but at the top end of the rev range.
Not up on the technical terms but something like mass air fuel sensor etc.
On the Merc, I was told to stay well clear of any air filters that required a coating of thin oil on them to trap particles in the air. Reason to avoid is, I was told, that the fine droplets of oil can get into the MAS thingy and bugger it up. Sending all sorts of iffy data to the ECU. Followed by erratic running due to over/under fueling.
I was told that that is why manufacturers do not fit these filters to standard vehicles and stick with paper types.
Don't know why I'm going on about filters, must be altimeters decrease setting in. LoL!!
Yes, it might be worth looking at the sensor in your Jim, that's if there is one(?) but Allah knows how to test one?
Hope that helps, sorry for rambling but I'm overdosed on lemsip and everything else at the moment!!
Man Flu but at category 8!!!

The did say them most important thing is to make sure that the sensor in the box or sometimes in the rubber part of the manifold is very clean as this can cause it to run rich or misfire or even run erratically. You must how ever use the right cleaner for the job,not break cleaner .So there you have it,every time you change the air filter clean the sensor as well and it says also about rebooting after you clean it but you will have to look your self on that one
