'Sticking' feeling when in full lock was created by officialtob
Hi everyone, I'm hoping someone will be able to help with a bit of a strange problem we are having with our Jimny.

When either going forward or reversing on full lock (and anything over half way to full lock) something appears to be sticking, or locking up - to the point when extra revs are needed to prevent it stalling. One thing I would note is that the rear brakes squeak when turning too, however when going straight ahead it doesn't happen.

We have jacked it up and checked that it isn't stuck in 4wd, and it isn't, and the 4wd dashboard light appears to be working fine too.

Does anyone have any suggestions on what could be causing it?

Many thanks in advance!

Is it on standard tyres? If they are not then they maybe be a bigger size that might be causing rubbing on the arches

Thanks for the response.

Sadly it is on completely standard tyres, and it isn't rubbing :(

could be the rear diff locking up some how
check by jacking rear up and see if the wheels spin freely get some one to hold one side as you turn the othe and vice verser

but it does sound like its stuck in 4wd as free landers are the same on full lock back and forth

when in 2wd see if the front prop spins freely with out jacking it up
