Hi sorry if this has already been answered. New to the site. Purchased the better half a 51 plate jimny yesterday. I have had a sj for the last 3 years and thought it was time to upgrade and treat her. Now the problem.

Engaging 4 high or 4 low we get the flashing light after about 15 seconds. Jacked one of the front wheels up with the light flashing and it only took up the back lash, so the hubs are engaging. Put back into 2 high and wheel spun so its realising also.

I've had a noses at the vac pipes and cannot see any visible splits or problems with them.

Took it out for a few hours today and everything was working as it should. Just the flashing light that's bugging me a bit.

Thanks for any help and again I apologise if this is listed else where.

Does it flash at a set rate or sort of random ?
If random flash it could be either a lose wire or poor connection on the switch in the t-box
If the hubs are engaging then i wouldnt worry the light is just an indicator it doesnt actually do anything

The flashing light means that the vacuum switch, located on the vacuum valve block under the battery, is not detecting a vacuum when the hubs are engaged within 15 seconds of the lever moving.

If the pipes are intact, most likely is the disengage valve is leaking.

You are lucky that the hubs are locking.

With the engine ticking over, wind down the window, and select 4wd. You should hear Clickclick very quickly. If you hear Click..................................click you have a leak, if you only hear click only 1 hub is operating.

Select 2wd, you should hear clockclock as they disengage.

If you get clickclick cloclclock, the vacuum switch is faulty, or disconnected/wire broken

If it suddenly breaks, go back to the last thing that you did before it broke and start looking there :)
