New member with a new jimny. was created by phillet
I have previously been a Land Rover owner, having started with a 1960 S2 followed by a 1989 Land Rover Discovery, however after the clutch on the Discovery died and it spectacularly failed it’s MOT I was left without a 4x4 for three years.

Once getting a new job, I decided to treat myself to another 4x4, I have had several friends who have had Suzuki Jimny’s before and all of them have loved them, and they have proved to be a relatively cheap 4x4 to own and run, so I decided to go for a Jimny. Originally I was looking at a 3 year old (ish) Jimny, but it seemed to make more finical sense to buy a new one, so that is what I have done.

Here she is as I bought her;

And a couple of her first trips out and about.

First off all I added an off road scratch on her, within two weeks off having bought her. (It looks worse - or better dependent on your opinion - in the flesh)

I then put some all terrain tyres on her. (Competus A/T 4x4 - 205 / 70 R15)

Followed by a new bonnet mounted number plate after having lost two number plates whilst laning in the past.

And here she is in her current form, much cleaner than normal

I also plan to get underneath the car with some waxoil at some point over the winter, and pretty much coat everything I can in it to try and prevent any rust. And also think about some under body protection and a lift, but I need to watch this with the car being under warranty.

It started fine before I started the mods, now it takes an eternity to fire but once its running its ok. Some things I have done that could have caused the problems:

Had the exhaust off then back on again along with the lambda sensor.

Removed the vacuum hubs (along with the vacuum bottle in the wing void) and fitted SJ fixed items all vacuum pipes have been left open and not plugged.

Moved the fusebox which is still loose in engine bay, some of the wires going into the box have corroded and maybe loose too not had chance to check which circuits yet.

I know its a big ask given the above info but any ideas on why its taking ages to fire.
Thanks.

Yeah all the fuel lines were similar size to original, also when it does start tickover is fine and when its revved there seems plenty of response there with no delay in the power delivery.

fuel could be running out of the rail back to the tank past the fuel regulator

It was working okay before I modded it and I havent touched the fuel rail at all, except for making the fuel pipe connections to it. Could it be something to do with a vacuum alteration due to removal of the jimny vac hubs and the vac reservoir in the wing void.
