Hello, there are a lot of options in changing engine for europe.
1) There must be a car like yours coming from the factory with the engine you want to install.
ex. a factory jimny with a 1.6 lt engine in order to make the upgrade to yours from 1.3 to 1.6 lt.
2) There must be someone else that has made before you the same mod. with the one you want to do
so he has done all the payper work and testing, and has taken permision for that.
3) You are allowed to make only a 30% upgrade to the cc engine capacity
4) Also you can start to make it from the start by your own and it will be charged as a prototype but
you will have to pass all the test that a new prototype car has to pass in order to take clearence to go
on the streets.
The most people who swap engines are not declaring it. If you have a m13 vvt or no vvt you have no
problem because the m16 or m18 are exactly the same engines from outside.

No I haven't but every car in the UK has a V5 registration document. It just gets updated with the new engine details, its not a special document.
But as Panosd says its a very different issue in the rest of Europe.

correct me if i wrong,
i guess that it writen on the engine block (as i saw on the G13A), the model number M16A, is it right? or there is no sign apart the engine number (here we must have an engine number apart, most of the cases it comes from the factory with this number).
