i will have a fiddle and try lifting one wheel up a time as didnt try this and see what comes of it !, just hope its some thing cheap and easy to rectify,

if this doesnt help i will order some kingpin bearing and seals etc and just strip down and rebuild atleast that way it will be better when finshed as gives a bit of a shake at 45mph then goes at just over 50mph for some reason just asuming could be this!

or am i wrong and it need constant air vacum from pump???

Remove black hub (6 E series bolts)
Put finger in splined hole in hub.
Wiggle finger whilst pulling outwards, middle springs up. and locks. Use finger to turn splines in hole, you cant.

Do other side.

Wipe grease off finger.

Carefully replace hubs making sure you don't dislodge inner.
put in 4wd
Jack up one front wheel, try to turn it, it should just rock from side to side.

If it suddenly breaks, go back to the last thing that you did before it broke and start looking there :)

have you checked all the pipe work to the hubs it could also be a wheel bearing as there is a seal in there that is in the vacuum system on the hubs

also you could take both the locking hubs off put it in 4wd no need to have engine running turn the front prop one shaft will move one way the other may turn the opposite way

or remove both hubs put in 4wd wind in a bolt in the drivers side half shaft untill it turns the shaft and see if the othe side turns backwards if so the drive train is fine and you ither have a vacuum problem or a hub problem of just buy some sj manual hubs and be done with
