only done the putting one wheel in the air and see if it spins,
im going to just buy some manual hubs i cant be dealing with them not working!
now i know its not the diff or shafts broken it means its either the hubs the air lines so im going to have a fiddle when i get a chance,
where is best place to buy hubs i can maually lock im not going to be doing any off roading at payplay sites just for green lane farmers field golf course etc nothing serious (yet)

I think you confused everyone in your first post when you said you'd manually locked your hubs and it made no difference, and I think maybe you hadn't. Here's the link you need

If you're going to bin the auto hubs use, or cut a piece of the rubber hose and loop it between the upper and lower connector on the back of each hub to keep the sh*t out.
Does anyone know if you loop the air hose right back at the air solenoid does it fool the 4WD flashing lamp? There's no harm leaving them permanently manually locked like this as long as you back to 2WD before you go on the road/grippy surface. All you'll do is maybe use a little bit more fuel, the old series LRs and early SJs had permanently locked hubs. If you change back to 2WD while you've lock on you may need to reverse a little to let 4WD disengage, but you sometimes need to do that when the auto hubs are working correctly anyway.

i could put a load of mastic in the hub and it would lock it and save me £££'s but would this wind up the diff! when in 2wd
plug the rubber pipes going from the vacuum valves under the battery to the hubs (easiest option)
or join the 2 wires together at the switch found near the vacuum valves. Then remove the vacuum pipe from the inlet manifold to the valves, and cap at the manifold end.
You shouldn't really drive around for very long with the hubs engaged in 2wd, as the plain bearing at the hub end of the driveshaft will wear out. (Landrovers have ball races and oil at this position)
If it suddenly breaks, go back to the last thing that you did before it broke and start looking there
at the end of the day you could be waisting your money if you was to carry out a simple vacuum pipe check on all the pipes one could be split and a bit of pipe about 4" long and all your troubles could be solved
