4wd drive issues, not working.....complete novice was created by thesmi
right lads first things first i have tried reading all guides but still a little confused!
i have a jimny 2000 1.3 and 4wd is not working! green light is flashing
what i have tested
i have jacked the car up off the ground and tried to engage into 4wd the front prop spins but no drive to front wheels (rear is working)
i undone the oil cap to the diff and i can see this rotating with engine in drive,
the front wheels are spinning freely and wont rotate the other side also
i also manually locked the hubs by undoing the star shape bolts and still has no effect
would this mean one of my halfshafts or cvs are broken there are no clunks or anything or could it be my diff im at my witts end and bought the car like this as didnt realise it was broken
i only realised when i tried driving up a little grass hill and got stuck and my friend went to push and told me im not getting drive to the front.
any help tips much apreciated

careful with this, if one side is locked and the other isn't you will still be able to spin the front wheels with the prop spinning, caught me out before.
Put it into 4wd and put it in gear, listen to hear if the hubs engage.
Turn off the ignition but leave it in gear.
Take the hubs off and double check they are engaged.
Jack up ONE FRONT WHEEL ONLY
Try and turn the wheel in the air (make sure its still in 4wd and in gear) and you shouldn't be able to turn it.
Lower that side, repeat on the other.
If this is OK it was probably just your hubs not engaging when you attempted the grassy hill.
