Unknown electrical switch was created by HARRY.B
Just got my first jimny, an 07 on a 56 plate vvt jlx+. Can anyone help me identify an electrical switch i found whilst fiddling around. Open rear door, on the right hand side is a small removable plastic panel with what looks like an electrical switch behind it. Fed by a twin black wire it has I and O markings and is in the O position, which i presume is off. What is it for ? No mention anywhere in the owners manual that came with the car.

It sounds like something a previous owner has fitted, the little panel on both my Jimnys (03 and 05) have nothing behind it.

Thanks guys. I can`t explain how how stupid i feel now as i plucked up courage and switched it to the `I` position. Firstly let me explain my fear of auto-electrics. Many, many years ago, i very nearly set fire to a mk2 capri trying to wire up a set of fog lights. Lesson learned. Back to the present, when i eventually flicked the mystery switch i was bathed in light from two chrome units mounted in the roof lining ! ! I hadn`t even spotted these when i bought the car ! ! On closer inspection the switch is on a cigarette lighter type aux outlet. The whole job looks like it was done by a professional as it is very neat, ( but what do i know ! ) , all wiring is tidy and hidden and the lights are marked for 12v use. Thanks again for your help.
