Those oil syringes are good, my mate uses one. I have a pump which is ok but the syringe it quicker, although if you're not careful can be messy. Just got to be careful though, no great shakes!
Glad you got it ok. Stick a breather pipe on it whilst it's out, it's nearly impossible with the box in the car!

I would suggest being very careful about putting additives in the gearbox oil. The boxes contain yellow metals that can be eaten away by certain chemicals in oils. If you have a concern about the oil in the gearbox the best and simplest thing to do is replace it with the correct gl4 from a reputable supplier.

The company I work with, designing gearboxes for ships, do not approve any additives to the gear oil.
There is already additives in the gear oil from the oil manufacturer and of you add any you will never know how they react to the additives already in the oil.
Breakdown in the gear oil film on the gear wheels will result in scuffing and excessive gear wheel wear.
I went to my local suzuki garage this morning and bought 1.5 liter 75/90 gear oil with original spec..

Might note that I have the R72 2005 and up gearbox that fails. and your 2003 has the more failsafe R7me gearbox.
As I experienced a gearbox breakdown last Saturday makes me go as far as i can to optimize everthing around this.
With a R7me gearbox from before 2005 i guess you can ease off this a bit

Use the money you would have spent on the additive to buy a top quality oil such as Redline
