Have got the standard Clarion head unit in the Jimny.

Every time I turn off the ignition it loses its settings. I've taken it out, but theres nothing come adrift or no positive cables to be swapped over.

Any thoughts?

Does the dash clock keep time? It should be fed from the same place as the radio.

There is a fuse for the permanent live feed to the clock and the radio in the fusebox somewhere.

If it suddenly breaks, go back to the last thing that you did before it broke and start looking there :)

Clock is keeping time OK.

I reconnected everything and it looks like it's holding settings now.

Only problem is is that the NSF speaker isn't working at all. I'm hoping it's a speaker issue and not cabling.

Time to order a new set.

It's doing it again.

If I leave the ignition off for any length of time, the Clarion loses its settings. If I switch it off, remove the key, put the key back in and switch it on again, it's fine!

The clock never loses its settings.

Also it's very poor at picking up radio stations.

I think I'll try a spare head unit I have and see what that does.

Tried the spare head unit. It confirmed the following:

The left speaker still doesn't work (either speaker or cables)
The radio holds settings during the quick key test
I haven't a clue where all the excess cables (phono leads) are going to fit.

Therefore I've had to take it back out again.

How do you guys get all your cables behind the stereo?
