X reg Jimny info

Hi guys,

New to the forum, and to Jimnys!

As such im looking for some information regarding the point at which it switch from a single to double cam engine.

Ive seen an x plated jimny hard top at a good price and reasonable mileage, it was first registered in dec 2000. in the advert it says that its 1298cc, which as far as ive been able to work out is the single cam?
But the seller has assured me that its a dohc model, which should be 1328cc?

Was the a cross over dohc engine that was 1298cc? i know that the dohc was introduced to the hard top in 2000, but will it be in all 2000 reg cars or will some still have the single cam engine?
