2003 jimny vibration, can anyone help please? was created by Soymilkfc
Hi guys,
The car was going fine when accelarating, but after about couple of seconds after I let my foot go (without pressing anything), the car goes vibrating quite crazily.. and as far as i can tell, the vibration was from somewhere at the tail part of the car..
Can anyone spot this problem for me please? Or is there any common problem like that for jimny?
any info will be greatly appreciated!
Thanks!

If it suddenly breaks, go back to the last thing that you did before it broke and start looking there

You need to be a bit more specific: what speed, what gear, uphill, downhill, level ground, on road, off road, 2wd, 4wd (not on tarmac please!).
Does the whole car shake like it is breaking up on re-entry and you think you might die (most likely the CV joint in the rear propshaft, or possibly the spider joint, but these tend to knock first)
Does it just shake a little (wheel nuts, rubbers in the suspension)
Does it just buzz (exhaust)
I'd start by checking the rear propshaft.

Hi faceade,
thanks for your reply.
I was driving on 2wd and on the normal road condtion. i drove to about 60 then the speed dropped down from there. The vibration built up after about 2 seconds when i let my foot go and the frequency of the vibration became very high, so that it sounded/felt like continious sound/vibration (not sure if it is "buzz" sound as you described) . The vibration went all the way till the car fully stopped.
Also, it does shake a bit at first 1 or 2 seconds when the vibration was building up. The vibration was very loud as well.
Thanks again!

Is there any vibration changing from 1st to 2nd?
Driving steadily, the revs normally drop below 2k... and commonly causes the car to vibrate as though the engine is struggling. I was told this was caused by a worn UJ on the rear prop, but i changed it and it made little to no difference.
Might be worth checking for play in your rear prop.
Get underneath and give it a good wiggle up/down, side to side, back and forth.

This is litle off topic, but my broplem is similiar:
Annoying steering wheel wobble when driving 78-84km/h.
I had changed king-pin bearings, wheel balansing is checked. Cant feel any empty movement when shaking front wheel. New shock absorpers and springs. (trailmaster)
What else might be wrong? Wheels?
Radius arm to axle bushes? (my jimny is 2004)

check your steering arm track rod ends for play as these can cause wobble as well
