Plenty of guides on stripping them down to clean them out.

The only problem is the body is chromed, and rusty, and nothing will stick to the chrome for long (not even etch primer

I could get the body's of the AISIN chrome one's chemically stripped / grit blasted at work.

I presume they strip completely down to just the cases/shells?

Cheers

They do.

Try this guide

The second and third pictures show the part that wears, as the car is driven in freeewheel the inside is still and wears a thin bronze bush in the outside plate.

I'm a little worried that the CV joint is not retained in these hubs (an SJ has a circlip), it stays in place because when you turn the wheel, the joint pivots and pushes itself out. I'd be inclined to make a top hat bush with a hole in and attach to the threaded hole in the end of the CV joint to keep the joint pulled out.

If it suddenly breaks, go back to the last thing that you did before it broke and start looking there :)

Have won the SJ hubs!

They say they are in working order.......but I want to strip them and recondition them at work anyway, so...

Do I need any particular spare parts? Anything that wears normally?

Or can I literally strip clean and rebuild them?
