Checked my plugs and leads and no obvious faults plus a mate had a OBD2 diagnostic tool and scanned for fault codes, however there were non logged so I'm puzzled as to why I had the fault.

A pal said it may hav been crap in the fuel that may of temporarily blocked the injector and then cleared.

Any ideas?

Crank sensor between the alternator and the engine block.
Often doesn't give a fault code.
Wait until it happens again, then cool the sensor by pouring cold water on it, if it fixes the fault, change the sensor.

If it suddenly breaks, go back to the last thing that you did before it broke and start looking there :)

Crank or cam position sensors! They often start to malfunction as they get hot - as they likely would at 70mph. As has been said, the ECU does not always register them as a fault.

Try heating up each of them with a hair dryer with the engine idling. If it replicates the misfire - there's your problem.
