Does anyone fit their own tyres?

My local kwikfit won't fit my old tyres onto my replacement rims, can't take the risk they say. :angry:

They will balance them, so I thought I might give tyre fitting a go.

Do I need a bead breaker or will jumping on them work?

I can get tyre levers, if I can get tyres off and on with just them that is.

yes mate you should be ale to do it yourself. Use a sledge hammer & a metal wedge to hit the Tyre wall to brake the bead.

To be honest its better to go to another tyre place, preferably not NOT so Kwick Fit / ATS or Halfrauds auto centres.
I know there are plenty local to you. Its not worth working up a sweat fitting tyres yourself.

i agree to be honest it will only cost a few quid. go to a small garage none of the big named ones and i am sure they will sort you out.

yes fitting tyres at home with tyre levers is quite easy, trying to get the old tyres off the bead very hard, i did it by driving a terrano onto it (a little jimny just aint heavy enough) take them to a independent /small tyre fitting company and save yourself from alot of sweating and swearing :silly:
it should cost about £40 fitted and balanced

I've done it at home. Made a bead breaker years ago using a trolley jack.

But.....

It's proper had work even after the bead is broken.. Find a local indie they'll do it for you for a few ££ more than balancing alone. Never again!
