i run those wheels , they dont require a box change

but if you want a new box there are a few options

custom gears for your box
mini lobster (sj 410 box)
rock lobster ( sj 410/413 hybrid)

Hi Nivo,

235/75 R15 tyre's are fine on a jimny with stock gearing, but only of your doing mud or beach work. To correct the gearing for 235's in a late model jimny, this is your only real option.

www.auszookers.com/index.php?name=Forums&file=viewtopic&t=22832

If you were to put a samurai t-case in with the stock VVT gear box, you would end up with a 40% reduction in high range. The late model jimny runs a 1:1 ratio in 5th gear, un-like the early model jimny (00-05 m13a non-vvt) box which has a over drive gear for 5th and 4th gear is a 1:1 ratio.

If you put a early model jimny gear box in, with a samurai t-case, you would end up with a 16% reduction in high. That would mean you would be 4% over gear (perfect for 30x9.5's ;) ) .

I have the same model jimny as you. I have a early model gear box in it now though and i have changed the diff ratio's out to to 4.09. The stock diff ratio's in a vvt jimny are 4.3 and early model jimny's are 4.09 (NOT 4.11), so about 6% difference. I will be running a samurai/sierra t-case with 4.16 low range gear's. These gear's give a 12% reduction in high and 84% in low (?). So in total i will have a 22% reduction in high and about 92% in low. This setup is for 31x10.5 r15 and it's allows me to keep my freeway revs close to stock.

Hope this makes sense!

Andrew
