Very interesting. Have you made any progress recently? I'd love to be able to access the map(s) on my Jimny with the same ease as I do my Mitsubishi. Will you be publishing your work or selling a product? Either way I hope you succeed.

I haven't done a lot of work on this lately I now mainly do OE design work, although I'm currently doing a lot of work on the processor used in the Mitsubishi ECUs in the Vitaras. Which Mitsu ECU are you working on? one of the later ones with Flash memory or an early EPROM based model?
I did get as far as defining the main fuel and timing maps and a lot of other stuff. I did reflash the Jimny ECU using a BDM but I ahven't done any more onreflashing via the serial link, a guy in greece was working on that, I think he got a fair way with it although he was concentrating mainly on the Denso bike ECUs. Funnily enough someone else contacted me about a Jimny ECU today so I will look out my notes and publish what I have.
Cheers

I haven't been on here for a while, is your Jimny KWP2000? I have a lot of information now on the KWP protocol used by Suzuki for communicating with the TCM, airbags and other functions on the KWP2000 based ECUs. Its a US document but I believe a lot of it should be the same.

Okay cool. I'm just an end user I'm afraid! I use the Evo7/8/9 ECUs but there is a lot of development already for them, offering many new ROMs with features normally only found on the after market ECUs. I'm just curios as my Jimny could do with a remap and no one seems to offer this for the petrol models.

I don't know why no one seems to do the Densos they are a very good ECU, I think the issue is that most tuners use the same software package that you can get from ebay that only really does EOBD. The more specialist companies ought to be able to remap one of these ECUs, it is certainly possible to do it with a BDM but its a bit trickier than using the serial port, I published some details here for the metal cased ECUs here:

What part number is your ECU? is it the metal case or the plastic case?
