Rust at jack storage area was created by Chilgrove
I have wondered why this area in particular seems to be vulnerable to rust. After all, underneath the metal is pretty well protected by the exhaust back box and it is not in direct line of wheels being virtually central.
When I looked more closely yesterday it appears the metal is double skinned at this area and the outer skin has several machine cut holes which certainly allow water to get in between the two skins of steel.
Once in I cannot see any way water could get out. So it seems to be a dodgy design issue, if I am correct.
Or can someone correct me if I am wrong?

Same as what i see it as.
My Jimny is 04, so supposedly galvo, it is still rusting in the jack area and near the seatbelts.
I have put some waxoyl in the holes, but it seems to have had little effect.
I've settled with it being poor design, and that rust is going to happen:(

Wow, that was quite bad Keefe. My soft top was only rusty on the boot floor (well I haven't found any anywhere else yet anyway.)
