Hi,
You can use for your T-case gearbox this type of oil: SAE 75W-90 and for the axe box: SAE
80W-90

The gearbox and transfer box require oil to API GL-4, and the axles API GL-5

Do not use GL-5 in the gearbox.

There is a lot of helpful information on this site, if you click on the "Information" part of the menu bar you get a drop down with general information, how to guides etc.

If it suddenly breaks, go back to the last thing that you did before it broke and start looking there :)

What would be the effect of using GL-5 in the gear box?

Probably nothing, but the high sulphur content of GL-5 had a reputation for eating any yellow metal bearings & bushes in the gearbox. Likely this has been sorted now, but I wouldn't take the chance.
