jimny running problem was created by petetong
hi all.. some of you might know of me??
well i been out and got a nice cheap little jimny :)
BUT its cheap cos its got a little problem! well 2 really.. very light front end damage.. which i have already repaired..
and a bit of a running fault!

the bloke i got it off said it was towed to a garage after and thay said it was n ECU fault.. so a second hand replacement was fitted(so i was told??!!) but still it want rev..
it will start from cold.. run very lumpy.. then after about 30 seconds it cuts out then will be very had to start, and only with full throttle??

with out going to much in to it..

i have checked everything.. got fuel, spark, and timing is all ok..
no engine light on.. other than if you unplug a sensor.. like the temp one.. which helps..a bit in its trying! to start!!
now when you pull the plugs out(and i even pulled the lambda out to have a look) there BLACK! its proper over fueling?!!
massively over fueling..
but why?? im guessing that the ECU is keeping the duration of the injectors open to long?? but way??

please some one help!
its to nice little truck to give up on.. and i really don't want to have to stick the bike carbs i got kicking around on it! ;)
not only the that. but want it to get back out in the mud again, after a little spell away

Could it be the Lambda sensor?? or perhaps the camshaft sensor or a blocked catalytic converter (has the cat collapsed in the minor shunt that bent the front end?

none of the above :(
changed the lambda, camshaft sensor must be working as im getting spark.. and would have thought that if it was putting the timing out.. it would be popping of/backfire thought either the inlet or exhaust.. but its not..
one of the first things i did was drop the system of down from the exhaust manifold to see if was a blocked cat.. and it made no difference!!
im shore its fueling.. but why??!

It might be a long shot but have you checked all your earthing points sometimes electrical and running probs are just a bad earth (does sound like ECU though)

yeap.. done all that.. im going to look bit more in to the fuel pressure side of it.. as im telling myself!!!!! that it can't be ECU as im getting spark and fuel.. if it was an ECU fault.. don't think?? i would either?or at least. one or the other??

well i have now replaced nearly everything fuel side!

and still its massively over fueled!!
what would be doing this?? if you crank it from cold.. it will start. then run lumpy and then cut out!!pull the plugs out and there sopping wet!!
i was told that the ECU was from an 16v single cam jimny.. but im wondering.that maybe it from the twin cam lump..
so my next question is.if it is.. would it fit/work on the earlier single cam engine?
if so might this be why its over fueling?!!

At a quick count in my parts list I can see 3 ECUs listed for the single cam engine and (so far) 15 ECUs for the Twin Cam Engine.

If you give me the part numbers and the VIN number I can look them up, no guarantees as the Suzuki system does not have every vehicle on it.

Ok - based on the info you PM'd me......

It should be:

Cyprus Blue Metallic (Z2J colour code)
Engine Number G13BBXXXXXXX
Model Code: MRKXXXXXX
5-Speed Manual without Air Bags, E02 Specification

The ECU on this one should be 33920-81A11 (which looks like the number you found!)

It should be fitted with a 33970-70F01 Immobiliser which must be paired with the ECU - there is a procedure to do this in the workshop manual pg8G-19 which I could reproduce here, but you need a Suzuki SCAN TOOL to reset the matching codes

I will post this reply to your other threads for the information of others but will hide the serial numbers for your car

No problem

If you get a matched set of key, immobiliser and ECU then it should work.

ALternatively, Rhinoman on Difflock may know how to match up the ECU and immobiliser as he has been decoding the ECU programming
