I got a big truck battery, they are cheap and have tons of power. I got a 190amp for £100. But it is the size of the boot! Maybe I should have got a Yellow top just for the smaller size but bigger price tag!.

I'd still by a battery made for th job, even though you don't intend on using the winc much. The Jimny battery is puny and will be ruined by winching, so you'll end up buying another one of them and be spending just as much as if you'd just bought the right one fro the job in the first place. A false economy.

Looks to be, the spec of my Numax is below:

Voltage: 12 Volts
Capacity: 86 Ah
CCA: 1000 A
Length: 257 mm
Width: 172 mm
Height: 220 mm

The only thing is - £50.00 for a second hand battery that is about £150.00 new - makes me wary!

If you want to buy a battery that will fit in the original place on your Jimny then this could be the answer
www.tayna.co.uk/Optima-Yellow-Top-YT-S-2.7J-P3803.html
For your relatively small winch, but quite ok for a Jimny, then this will be fine. With my VVT Jimny I have the original battery and a Superwinch EP9 and it seems to work ok for occasional winching. For competition use, as Kirkynut says, a bigger battery would be better. The disadvantage, for me anyway, is that the car has ABS so its not possible to fit a bigger battery on the other side of the engine compartmant, and I don't want it inside the car as its small enough inside without a big battery in the back as well!
So at some point I will buy one of these yellow tops.
For my auto I have a Jeep Wrangler battery on the other side of the engine bay which is high output but not too tall. Can't remember exactly what it is now, but its not as high as the Numax, but quite ok.
