Tyre sizes was created by JonathonMarshall
The Jimny has got 205 70 road tyres on at the moment with a second set of 195 M/Ts The car feels really strained at 50 let alone 60...would dropping to 195 65 road tyres help or make things worse...Its mainly to cut the engine noise a little and make it a little more economical - lower revs

Smaller tyres = high revs = more engine noise.

The Jimny engine is always a high reving engine and does get noisy at speed as its only a 1300cc.

Has the previous owner removed the sound proofing under the carpets and the bonnet?

The firewall cladding is still present...will check the bonnet and carpets. I am considering speaking to Noise Killer if they're at the Driffield Land Rover Show. Still I love the car, yes its costing a bit more to run but as soon as I get it off road and in winter it'll all become clear why I did it. :) On a side note should I be after a Haynes manual or is there another manual you would recommend.

I have been offered a body lift by a friend...would fitting larger tyres - therefore easing the engine have a detrimental effect on economy though?

The issue with larger tyres is that the low ratio on the transfer box is not very good as standard, therefore with larger tyres the ratio get worse and you are on the slippery slope of modifications!

There is no Haynes book of lies for this one, but there is a good Suzuki Workshop manual lurking on the Internet for download.

There appears to be one HERE > pdftown.com/PDF-Suzuki-Jimny-SN413-Service-Manual.html

If this doesn't work then drop me a PM!

There was a set of brand new M/T Trackers on steel wheels that came with it also - 205's so if I could get slightly larger road tyres to sort the noise a little I won't be fussed about low range at all.
