jimny roll cage flex was created by r_ogilvy
after doing the cage the last week or so, i have been out today to see how its going.

if you shake the cage theres little flex there, only a bit, should i link it to my body of the jimny to stop that or is it best to leave it and have a little play?

I would link it to the body personally. Mine is linked to the body by the old roof bar mounting bolts. two in each corner.

They are only small studs but enough to stop the cage touching the body too much as has been proven when mine went on it's side and the cage onlt left witness marks on the rather than denting it.

you could add a lower windscreen cross bar and/or some triangulation above the roof depending on which way it flexed

The windscreen bar is a necessity and will help make it all alot more rigid but will not stop it flexing on it's "feet".

AS has been discussed elsewhere on here recently - they ought to have an internal cross brace linked to the cage through the roof and down through the floor to the chassis but you lose the rear seats then - not that they are up to much but I have people in mine every now and then.

I have mate up a windscreen bar I made it out of 30mm so gonna add that in the week, I'll gonna make it a bolt one as I may fail the m.o.t with it on

I think I'll do what you said kirkynut and put it to the roof bar mounts, then after this winter I'll add a diagonal to it, just the seats this year, ill get on to it this week

Thanks
