Standard jimny transfer box does not have a neutral gear which is a shame but i am going to change it in the future when funds allow anyway but i think i may be getting some progress with my problem. Yesterday i checked the rear drums and as i thought they were spot on no probs at all so i took another look at the prop and i dont know why i never spotted this before but it looks like one of the balancing weights has dropped off it must have happened when we took the old arms off because after 10 years these bolts take a bit off shifting so i am taking the prop to a local firm next week to have it balanced and fingers crossed it should sort it out i will let you know how i get on.

well i picked my propshaft up today and no problem with it no weights missing and it was perfectly balanced so its back to the drawing board. since i have been running around all week on front wheel drive only i have had no vibrations and as soon as i put the rear prop back on back came the vibration. Ideas anyone ?

Is there any play in the rear diff pinion bearing?????
When you lift a Jimny it pull's the diff nose up, Is there enough
oil in the diff so the pinion bearing is not running dry??????
Are the wheel's mounted correctly??? i.e is there any crap in the drum face or
on the rim mounting face???
Hmmmmm i shall keep racking my brain for you pal!!

if you've been using the car without the rear prop attached the rear half shafts / diff etc will still be turning (just under no load). i would still say look at the prop or angles of the prop / UJ's. do you know anyone else with a jimny, maybe you could borrow their prop and test
or fill the back of the jimny with bags of sand to lower it back to normal hieght, see if cures
keep us posted on this one

Well i think i may be somewhere close to sorting the problem it looks like i have been sent the wrong shocks and they are grounding out and not letting the springs settle so i will wait till i have replacements sent and let you all know how i get on.

Just a little update for you all just put a prop spacer on the back prop and everything is running way better i thought i wouldnt need one with just putting a 2 1/2" lift on but there you go and i am still waiting for replacement shocks but in the meantime i put my old ones back on again with spacers and hey presto welcome back suspension. Thanks for all your replies
