Engine oil starvation was created by William
Is there a possibility that descending (or ascending) a steep slope in a Jimny would result in engine oil starvation due to the oil pump pickup in the sump not being submerged in the oil? Or is the sump designed in such a way that the oil pickup would always be submerged in the oil, no matter how steep the angle of descent?

It has a shaped sump to create a deep but narrow pool around the pickup

I've had mine as some horrific angles in every direction with not a single flicker from the oil light. So as Martin says the pick up must be always coveted.

I must admit that if stuck at an angle waiting to be pulled out of the mess I got myself in, I do turn it off until help has arrived, just in case!

Thanks Kirkynut,
Its bad enough being caught in a bad situation, but with a seized engine too......!

Thanks for the responses. I'd hate to damage my favourite car.

Even if this is a worry for you, don't be tempted to overkill the oil to compensate. This can cause issues of it's own.

I find Jimny engines not to use oil unless really old so oil level remains good.
