Vacuum hubs was created by Hunter K
Hi,

Just bought a Jimny (today!!)- happy days.

The 4WD light flashes and, having read your blogs, have found out the metal vacuum pipes fixed to the chasis below the drivers door have corroded with one end broken off where it joins the rubber pipe.. I'm hoping this is the cause of the problem (although the 4WD light flashes, 4WD still seems to engage!).

I'm hoping replacing the metal pipes will cure the flashing light problem. Do you know where I can order replacement pipes?

Many thanks,

Hunter

The OEM Suzuki pipes are very expensive. You could do as Gromit suggests and go to manual hubs, which are less convenient but more reliable.

However it is possible to buy copper fuel line or central heating microbore pipe and and make some up, much cheaper. There are many cures and suggestions to be found on this site. Good luck!

Cheers mate. I'll try and cobble something up. If it doesn't work, I'll go to manual hubs.

As others have said go with manual hubs! Auto hubs are a nice idea but very poorly implemented IMO.

I spent the best part of two days feckin about cleaning every part of the system and re piping it all with silicone vac hose and the damn things still wouldn't work properly!!

Connected individually directly to the vac solenoids they worked but when T'd together they would intermittently activate! As if the vac was not always strong enough even though the hubs were lightly lubed with oil not grease. Far too unreliable and unpredictable and a lot of messing about for nothing!

AVM Manual hubs fitted in 30 mins and peace of mind
that they are there when you really need them!

Got all the old pipe work some of which is usable which you are welcome to have if you are nearby?
