Id go straight to the battery with a in-line fuse as close to the battery as possible. Better dig mine out and think of fitting it.

Seeing as iam a novice with car elctroincs, when you say as close as possible do you mean in terms of attaching it to the cars wiring as close as possible? When people say "attach it to the battery" i think of litteraly attaching it straight to the battery. Can it be attached to the correct wireing leading to the battery? Also it has a fuse built in to the wiring already, result :)

Thanks halford ;) . Thats something i have be thinking about for ages. I was going to try the hole behind the battery, under the steering consol, this ways is much easier. But that was for my dixie horns  still havnt got them wired up either :(

When we attach a load to a battery, it is always best to have as small as possible length of cable between the battery terminal and the fuse, so in the event of a short it will minimise the risk of the worst. Also I find it frustrating when people just twist wires/ trap them to the battery terminal instead of using the correct terminal crimps.
My jimny was a fire in the making when I got it, Next daylight I was out stripping all the gadgets, spot lights, CB radio, Winch ect
Now i've no worries about all my wiring. ;-)

Nobby, this is what I'm looking to do - fit a 4 Way Blade Fuse Box direct to the battery

from which to run up to 4 feeds eg. CB, aux power socket, - even air horns
probably best to get your friend to wire it up properly, then you can just add what you want when ready
check out cbsonline for the type of bits required
