any one out there had any problems with egr valve conected with starter motor not turning over.i am a new user to forums so not sure how this works.but hoping someone out there can help.weird problem i am having with my 2000 x reg jimny 1.3 jlx.couple of days ago i went to start as usual to go to work turned key ignition lights come on no problem but turn key to start and nothing.as in wouldnt turn over.but i noticed a clicking noise but not from starter motor.investigated this and found it was coming from the egr valve at least i think this is the egr valve.it is at the back of the cylinder head has a block connector on the near side and a netal pipe connected with 2 10 mm bolts on the off side which connects to the inlet manifold.when i turn ignition to start if i can hear it making a clicking noise i know it is this making clicking noise because if i put my finger on it i can feel.also when it did start light for emission control stayed light.took valve off and gave actuator bit of a pull out and back in put it back on and it started ok.went to work today no problem started couple of times during day went to go home wouldnt start.called aa only way he could get it to start was to lie underneath and short starter to get it to turn over and start.so hope someone out there can help before i get the box of matches out.

Hi mate,
You might have it sorted now but anyway. I have just check the wiring diagram for you modle and the EGR valve is not related to the starting system in any way. As with all petrol cars with EGR valves they have an electronic solenoid to operate the actual valve. You will hear it clicking when the ignition is switched on though, this is normal, this is the solenoid adjusting the valve into the correct position.
It sounds from what you are describeing like an intermittent starter motor fault?
If you can let us know how you got on that would be great .
Steve.
