I did see one pop up on here a couple of days ago, shame I didnt no about it before now, I can't spend out for the air locker that's to much, I heard the kam one are about 500, if the lockrights only 200 it mite be worth that, are the clonk noises bad for the axel? And you get a install guide.
Its all about the money I suppose

no the clonk noises are just the locker unlocking - mines been on a long while - probably just clicked when it was new :) - we give the jimny some stick off road and not broken anything at the back yet - just front halfshafts so far
there are quite a few guys on here with them

I would get a Rocklobster box rather than replace gears in the Jimny transfer box. The reason for this is nothing to do with the kit supplied but because of the inherent weakness of the Jimny transfer box and it's chain drive. The extra torque created by 24% lower ratio gears can only make it weaker.

Furthermore - if you get the gearset, you either have to fit it yourself or pay someone else to do it - at which point you're at the price range of a Rocklobster.

You do need to source some parts for a Rocklobster though and Martin's guide tells you all.

Alternatively you could just pay Off Road Armoury who are more expensive than Rockwatt but they will source the boxes needed I believe (correct me if I'm wrong Rob) - making the process easier in some respects.

You could source a whole SJ410 scrapper and a whole SJ413 scrapper, sell all the bits you don't need - like everything other than the transfer box and maybe props/flanges and weigh in the shells. You might even have a profit after paying for your Rocklobster then - but you have to have the space and I'd rather see two SJ's being saved than scrapped - but then we have to get our transfer boxes from somewhere to make Rocklobsters!
