Hi All - Have posted in Jimny Chat but prob should be have been in this section (Sorry Martin)

The alternator is screaming its head off and you could fry eggs on it !! Can these be serviced or is it time to spend more money ??:evil:

It will get hot even when running right just not to hot and you can strip and rebuild it but it's finding the bearings and bushes, Suzuki did do a kit but it's was silly money if I was you I would go to a motor factors and get a recon unit with a years warrenty it's just the easiest way.

they can be serviced, there is an old guy lives near me who does it for next to nothing, not sure what a professional company would charge. I see you are in portsmouth, try alternatorman www.alternatorman.co.uk/index.htm i think they might be near you.

Try removing it and drenching it in WD40 then leave it overnight and then drench it again before putting it back on, worked for mine.

What we do in Oz is fit a 110 amp alternator from an EL Ford.
