Not denying with the rad out you would have more room, but I did not find it a struggle at all. If your coolant is due to be changed, then definitely take it out, if like mine it was not, then try it without removing it. If you find you struggle, you can always pop it off during the belt change.

When I did the 200tdi Defender pretty much the whole engine has to come apart: at least it doesn't get muddy water on it when you go for a swim.

Not looking forward to doing the RAV4, looks like an all day job.

If it suddenly breaks, go back to the last thing that you did before it broke and start looking there :)

parts ordered from japparts. I like the idea of trying with the rad in and taking it out if needed. I always find refilling a cooling system a real pain! so the less I disturb the better.
