More power? was created by nads1978
Can I squeeze a little more power from my 1.3 Auto 2007 Jimny?
It's a great car, but struggles a bit too much when on slow or fast hills (country side/motorways)
Is there a straight swap 1.6 in the range? If so what are the differences, bottom end, head, etc?

I'm planning on putting an engine like this one into a Jimny next year
Seen it fitted in a SJ, so it should also be possible in a Jimny
And yes I know. Lots of work

That's certainly interesting! However, not sure the missus would be too impressed. I get enough grief over my Mitsubishi.

Yeah - Noticed you have an Evo 7, awesome
check out youtube and some of the supercharged 2.9 Cosworth engines, 500-750 bhp
But then again, with this much power in a Jimny, you will need stronger Transfer box, stronger axles and probably lots of other things changed

Almost certainly!
If you convert to a programmable ECU like Megasquirt or Omex and play around with the fueling / ignition timing you can normally get a fair bit extra without significantly altering the engines mechanics.

What about fitting a small supercharger or turbo to the stock engine. I read somewhere that if you don't go above 5-6 psi, it's possible with standard engine. But bigger injectors would be needed I guess. And/or a programmable ECU of some sort?
What do you think?
