02 4x4 problem +recon transfer box

If it suddenly breaks, go back to the last thing that you did before it broke and start looking there

If you have the room, and a toolkit, yes you can do it.
Rear
drain oil
remove propshaft
remove wheels and brake drums
undo brake pipes at wheel cylinders, (or undo all the pipe retaining clips and let the pipes straighten out: very naughty, but it worked for me)
undo 4 nuts behind brake backplates, snatch halfshafts out with slide hammer
undo nuts around diff
pull diff out
Front
drain oil
remove propshaft
remove wheels and brake callipers, tie up out of way.
undo all bolts around swivel seal and release seal
part all steering knuckles
remove kingpins
pull hub assemblies off with halfshafts still in
undo nuts around diff
remove diff
change swivel bearings for new ones when refitting
Rear
drain oil
remove propshaft
remove wheels and brake drums
