Water, how deeps to deep was created by daniel
hi
i have a standard 2000 model jimny was just wondering how deep is to deep for me to drive through ? i drove through about 20 inches of water without a problem but im not sure if water can get into any breathers ect , also while driving up steep tracks in national park it got a bit hot a little above 3/4 on the gauge is this normal , i stopped a couple of times worrying about overheating ,..thanks Daniel

I've had the bonnet totally underwater when I miss judged a river crossing in grizedale forest and had to reverse back out. If your planning on playing in water then you really need to have breather pipes on your axles, gearbox, transfer box and probably also fit a snorkel. Doing this will ensure your car isn't having a sneaky drink whilst it's underwater. Going any deeper than the bonnet and I'd suggest a mini submarine rather than a jimny. Lol

I agree with mark1971 - If you're gonna play in water then you need to fit the snorkle, axle breather pipes etc etc
be prepared to have to change wheel bearings more regularly
Oh and take the carpets out cos they'll stink if water gets past the door seals

as you enter the water you create a bow wave - try to keep just behind it as it will give a bit more breathing room as you cross and try to keep the engine speed up a bit to keep water from entering the exhaust

Oh and its too deep if the jimny floats away

I think the manual says no higher than the center of the hubs. Makes sense because the breathers are on top of the axels. So the suggestions of breathers and snorkels are good.
