Belts >< was created by DAM0
Hey all
Got another question for ya all. The plastic cover over the rad had come loose and started to bounce of what i belive is the drive belt (not the alternator / water belt the other one) now I have firstly re-fixed the cover but the belt has been damaged and now looking to replace.
Used the euro car parts site punched in my reg etc and picked up the belt.....The belt received is ribbed when I need a v.groove? (think that sounds right).
Euro car parts have no record of this and too late to try autoparts so really looking for any advice in terms of part number and is this easy to fit? looks simple.....
2001 JLX 1.3 Soft top.
thanks in advance
Damo.

if its not the alternator belt thats damaged it must be the power steering belt as that the only 2 there
they should be ribbed belt on both but one is slightly longer than the other the v shape belts are what sj's use

Mine is a Spanish built ragtop too. It has the sohc G13BB engine and two flat ribbed belts. The front one is for the power steering and the rear one is for the water pump/alternator. They are quite cheap over here in Oz, I just went into Suzuki and bought them. I replace mine evey 2 years as I go bush quite often and don't want to get stuck hundreds of k's from home.
When you order parts, quote the vin number as that gives them all the info required to look-up parts.

Nice one guys, power steering belt makes sense and yeah above the VIN it looks like a spanish factory name ><
Just out of curiosity If this belt was to snap how much damage could this do?
Cheers

Not normally very much just fly off on the road and leave you stuck if you don't have a spare they can get stuck around the bottom pulley and make the cambelt jump but this is very very very rare and I have never seen it on a Suzuki. The front one is easy to change and takes about 10 -20 mins. If the old one is not to bad keep it as a spare just in case the last thing you need is for £6 belt to go out side your house or on a sat afternoon and be stuck with out a car trust me it's happened to me

1 of my belts snapped & it took the other with it & i was 5 miles from home so had to get towed home as without a alternater belt meens no water pump or fan working so over heated very quick
i ordered the belts from a motor spares next morning using my reg number to get the right ones & went to collect them got home tryed to fit them but they was wrong size so i ended up having to measure what size belts i needed using a bit of string & then had to wait all weekend to get them so i got 2 of each just in case as they was only cheap
