Hi everyone,
I'm sure this has been asked before but what size winch should i get. My jimny is my daily ride so nothing too heavy just something that will get me out if i ever manage to get it stuck when off roading,
which is not too often to be honest. There are a few on Ebay at the minute but a bit unsure.
Thanks

James

Buy at least a 9000lb winch. Although a Jimny is quite light and you might think you don't need as big a winch as a Land Rover for example, you can push just as much mud in front of you as a Land Rover - and that tends to be when you need the power!
I would avoid the real cheap winches on eBay - they are cheap for a reason! The best value at the moment are the Tds / Goldfish winches from either Goodwinch or Winch Solutions. They will last for ever, are waterproof and have a decent resale value if required. They are actually a superb bit of engineering and it's no surprise that most challenge trucks use them on the back.
I have one on my 110 and another two which are destined for the mid & rear winches on the Jimny. I have yet another one which I've built a multi-motor conversion for which performs as well as an 8274. That may well go on the front depending how the mood takes me!

Black Jimny's don't get stuck!
Most of the guys i know that challenge use goldfish winches.
If its your daily drive why not make it removable. Just remove it for daily duties and slot it back in for playing.
You know jimny's don't get stuck though - especially black ones
I like to just make out i'm stuck so my mate has an exuse to play with his winch.............honest.
