Done it!! Been a while for the update.

Thanks to the tips above I got it all sorted. Bit concerned about releasing the brake junction (?) from the body in the engine bay, and also loosening the steering column, but I was never going to get the body work up high enough without getting some slack. I have split the front bumper below the number plate and reattached both parts to the original mounting points (I've got to get an MOT later this week so will see what they think about the modifications).

Knowing what I know now, I'd say I could probably do the whole process in the right order in a couple of hours - the beauty of experience! That said, I haven't fitted the extended brake lines or sorted the low ratio selector yet! When it stops raining I'll do the brake lines and talk to the MOT guys about getting the selector bent/modified.

I'll create a "my Jimny" later once I have all the photos off my camera, but here is a snap of the car so far (including my daughter on the roof, its more of a challenge getting there now!!)

I forgot that bit and ended up ripping it off its mountings when I jacked the body up !!...

Dont know if its down to the year but I had to extend the steering. Either way if your steering wheel gets disconnected from the box make sure you connect it back without turning it. The horn and air bag electrics are connected by a clockwork style ribon cable only capable of turning if i remember correctly 2 1/2 turns in each direction.
I also had to adapt the transfer box lever to allow 4wd low to engage. I removed the lever from above and then cut it, rotated the two halves slightly and rewelded it back togeather. Most people get it bent for them but it needs some serious heat.
Watch your air pipes for the free wheeling hubs and your brake lines as you lift it but other than that it was very straight forward and done in a few hours single handed ;) Just take your time when you lift to make sure nothing is caught.
My MOT man was pleased to see the brake balance bracket on the rear axle adapted which is an easy fix.
Hope that helps a bit
Lads just after reading this and think Ive broken mine(Don't know if its down to the year but I had to extend the steering. Is it an easy fix.

Dave bought the Suzuki Jimny '98-'18 Anti Rollbar Roll / Sway Bar / ARB disconnect kit of parts off you late last year still have to fit it. It's costing a lot more now with Brexit so holding back on the spending. Like the new spacer for correcting the Jimny lean. Gutted I made shots of the air bag and horn ribbon cable. Any way thanks for the reminder. J
