Quick Question was created by bertbuckie
Hi all,

Well I took everything out the jimny today ( carpet, seats, all plastics ) ready to get the boot welded tomorrow and rust treat and hammerite next weekend :)
Then I removed the back box so it was easier to get access to the underboot bit that is also holed.

I then decided to take off the front bumper as its rusty there as well........ the question is can I legally drive without a front bumper on? If so I can just leave it off untill next weekend ( obviously with the plate on the car ) and then clean it up etc..... and ask the welder tomorrow about if the rusted bits are needing welded for mot etc or if I can just clean them up and paint them etc.

Cheers,

Bert :)

If there is nothing sharp or projecting that could injure a pedestrian in a collision, it will be legal, but your insurance will jump up and down rubbing their hands with glee when they refuse any claim you make without it fitted. :(

If it suddenly breaks, go back to the last thing that you did before it broke and start looking there :)

hmmmm, the bumper holders stick out....... I didnt think it would make a difference to insurance tbh, if I made a bumper out of metal would that also make a difference ?
...it seems these days any excuse not to pay out is used :( what happened to the old insurance days when you insured a car and the only thing that really mattered was if you made it faster somehow or other, now you seem to have to tell them if you stick on a badge :(

I wouldn't expect a better answer from you lol
she looks mean without the bumper on..... I know I'm selling her in decemberish ( when I have my works van and the signum theres no need and with a new kid on the way deffinately no money :( and need the space of the signum )
I am still tempted to make bumpers for her tho...... and I am going to clean up all underneith and paint whatever I can while im at it..... at least when someone buys her she will be a good motor :)
And I'm also going to paint the entire floor inside after its been rust treated/proofed.
I will have to take photo's sometime..... however my stupid mobile phone doesnt seem to work atm and the camera eats batteries :(
