Maybe use some hylomar blue sealant where the join is just to be on the safe side and cut it. I can see where you're coming from in not wanting to take it all apart again.
Do they need changing though?
Are they still dragging across the swivel or is there a gap?
Do you go through deep mud or water?
If they are in good nick, leave them alone for the time being. If you go through mud or water new ones might be advisable.
