I have the chance to buy a automatic Jimny but cant find any reviews any where. I am looking to raise by 3" and put off road tyres on. General use will be light off road and trying not to get stuck in next years snow, it will be a second car so will not get much hammer.
Anyone got any advice if an auto is any good over a manual??

In 2WD Jimnys are very "tail-happy" and provide a very exciting "old fashioned" rear wheel drive experience, a kick down on a wet roundabout would probably impress passers-by in the "look he's going to crash" sort of way whilst providing you with the grin factor of a car that can drift. In 4WD the immense power of the 1300cc engine will fail to provoke much wheel-spin unless you are really trying hard so it will be nice and stable.
Don't worry, its all very controllable.

I think if I were to buy another Jimny in the future for Off Roading it would be an auto - coupled with a Rocklobster transfer box I think it woud be awesome.
I have heard people say that the auto's in Jimny's are a little weak in as much as they overheat - but that's nothing an oil coller wouldn't resolve and Rhinoray built an auto Jimny and converts manuals to auto for people as he finds them better - he does not report having any issues with them and runs 205/80/16 Insa Turbo Special Tracks. He might have sold that truck now but nonetheless he used it.
