Every insurance policy offers "Green Lane" insurance as standard, even my wifes "Ladies" policy on her Peugeot 206 Cabriolet has "Green Lane" cover.

This is because there is no such thing as a "Green Lane". They are all "Byways Open to All Traffic" and as such are legal highways covered by the Road Traffic Act. Therefore all insurance covers them within the meaning of the Road Traffic Act. Don't pay extra for policies offering "Green Lane" cover.

As a co-incidence a discussion is going on on Diffock on the subject of Jimny insurance and some-one there has just been quoted £250 for a policy that cost £150 last year - I wonder if I am in for a surprise when my renewal comes!

I will tell you all what the bloke from premium choice told me and that was that they didnt use no claims on their policys and that this is a specialist policy for 4x4 vehicle so i think your £800 policy is a tad on the unreal side and you want to get yourself to those blokes and save yourself a couple of quid.

what do you mean ? they dont use no claims. Does that mean it would be same wether you had 5 accidents or none?

I can only tell you what he told me on the phone but he did ask me about any accidents and non faults and points so i guess if you had 5 accidents it would make a differance to what you pay but he did say that it was a specialist policy just for 4x4 and there was no no claims discounts so get on the phone and ask them yourself and see what they say and let us all know. But i think i will definately take Martins advice on this and go with them as they have given the cheapest quote and have no probs with mods. And just another thought this policy is probably for people with 2 or more vehicles and you expect that the no claims would have been used on the other vehicles but hey thats just a thought.

As its my second car the insurance companies will not allow you to use your "No claims discount" twice, I have used it on my first car.

Instead they have a "second car discount", which is based on your driving record but is not called a no claims discount.

Mine is a limited mileage, 4x4 policy (Large excess and Social and Domestic use only) all Mods declared.

I understand that there seems to have been a price rise this year so I await my renewal with trepidation
